his shadow getting long but he keeps on singing

last night was my official 'sort everything out before I go to Crete' night: fortunately I got a better offer in the form of a ticket to the Camden Crawl with jamese. We'd missed Dogs by a longshot by the time we got there (which is kinda better than just missing them) so headed to the Oh Bar, which turned out to be our only music venue of the night, where we saw and heard half of The Paddingtons' set from the queue (possibly the more comfortable option given the carnage inside: why don't more people die at gigs?) before we made it in. They were really cool and then we stuck around to see The Slits, an entertainingly unhinged multi-national all-female outfit; I'm not sure I'd rush out to buy their CDs but I'm certainly glad they exist. Afterwards we did some more social queuing outside Koko before giving up and going to the pub but, even though we only actually got to see two bands (we did start five hours after the event did,) it was kinda nice just to be out and about in Camden with a whole bunch of other people out and about in Camden . . .
